Having travelled
extensively throughout the former Soviet
Republics, I
came to the realization that the majority of talented artists have
not been given full
recognition in their
homeland and that their
enthusiasm and love for their
art has been largely ignored. In order to rectify the
present situation, a group of enthusiastic people from Sumy
(Ukraine), Moscow (Russia), London and Southampton (UK) have come together to create
this website whereby
all artistic work could be equally presented regardless of
the styles, colours or medium used in their art. Thus this website will offer
an opportunity for everyone to keep in touch with East European
art. Fuelling the
imagination will be a constant theme of this project. New works of art of both
well-known as well as newly discovered artists will be regularly
introduced to you to showcase the development of new perspectives
and ideas, and provide you with insights into the progress of East
European art at present time.
The current collection
is diverse, varying from contemporary works with some elements of
experimentation up to the more traditional or classical where all
forms and shapes are expressed in a more subtle manner by the
artists’ own interpretation of reality. However, despite the evident
differences seen
in all styles
and approaches used by different artists from different schools, one
will no doubt notice that there are still inevitable similarities
present across all the
paintings. The most prominent
theme is the
artists’ unconcealed
love of Beauty and a strong longing to convey this Beauty through simple mediums such as brushes and canvases and, of course,
through their deep understanding and appreciation of art at
large.
